#Icelive14 – Elastinen: rapping and business

icelive14 ElastinenKimmo Laiho, known better by his stage name Elastinen, is a veteran in the music and entertainment industry.  He’s a well-known rap artist, music producer and CEO of the successful Finnish record label Rähinä Records. He shares his business success on the #Icelive14 stage:

My secret success: I SMILE (everywhere, on stage, at traffic lights, at shops, …) and this energy can spread quickly. Be positive in life. It’s a lifestyle.

Some other things that I got from the story of Elastinen:

+ Having a concrete goal – I really wanted to stay together with my friend who went to a different highschool (where sport was important). I wanted to join him even knowing that I was not good in sport but I had a goal to join him and by hard working I got selected to the school.
+ Differentiate yourself – One of the things I was good at in the school was street dancing. I could differentiate myself from other students with hiphop. Dare to take a different role.
+ Break patterns – I had the chance to do a show on television and that was the first time where I could show that rappers can smile. i helped me to break the patterns about ‘rappers’. Just because I smile.
+ Be passionate – Everything I do, I do it with passion. And I get fired up by friends who are good in other skills and we learn from each other. Three things are important:

+ willingness – persistence (work hard)
+ skills
+ knowledge
